Stephen brings over 40 years of experience as an urban strategist working at the intersection of policy, economics, social impact, ecology, and culture.
The extent of his work has led to the successful completion of numerous public and private sector planning initiatives across Canada, the United States, Central America, Europe, and Asia. Stephen applies his global perspective developing local interventions principled in creating solutions appropriate and integral to their surroundings while being responsive to local, social, and economic circumstances and context.
Consensus-building amongst diverse stakeholder groups — through varied public and private partnerships — is one of Stephen’s unrivalled strengths, resulting in POPOVICH’s exemplary portfolio. His affinity for delivering positive social impact through community-specific solutions has led to long-established relationships with partners, collaborators, and public agencies.
Stan has amassed over 40 years of experience as an architect, urban designer, and design manager through a diverse and comprehensive portfolio of domestic and international projects, many of which merited urban and architectural design awards.
His extensive exploration and practice within other cultures has deepened his understanding of individual and collective human behaviours and how they inform, shape, and inspire the built environment. In tandem with this human-centric design focus, Stan has cultivated a career-long interest in prefabricated modular construction as a means of achieving more efficient, sustainable, and appropriate solutions.
In recent years, Stan has applied his international experience in the design and planning of ethical worker communities, addressing the critical need for attainable/affordable housing across Canada through innovative housing and community concepts.
Nicole is both right and left brain, strategist, and designer. With over 10 years of experience in the field of design, from industrial design to landscape architecture, Nicole draws on her range of experiences to develop strategies, conduct research, and find scalable solutions to bring POPOVICH’s vision to life. Nicole’s international background advances her unique perspective; from the innovative tech cities in Taiwan to the industrial towns of the UK and currently in Canada developing strategies to overcome the ever-expanding cities, Nicole brings her passion for research and ideation to the forefront.
Yuanyuan is a landscape and urban designer at POPOVICH who applies her expertise to find solutions for community-focused, accessible, and sustainable design. Yuanyuan previously completed a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Toronto and an undergraduate degree in Interior Architecture from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. Her cross-disciplinary background in landscape architecture, architecture, and interior design confers a unique ability to observe and approach projects at different complexities.
Noah is a graduate of the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Guelph. With a deep-rooted enthusiasm for both the natural world and design, Noah is aiming to make impactful contributions to the field of landscape architecture.
During his studies, Noah developed a strong passion for restorative landscape design. He also honed his skills in modeling and rendering, blending creativity and technical precision in pursuit of innovative solutions.
Noah’s dedication to landscape architecture is fueled by his innate love for the outdoors and his desire to craft environments that enhance the quality of life for others. He is driven by the belief that thoughtful design can positively impact both people and their surrounding ecosystems.
Sharon is an integral part of the POPOVICH team, having been our Director of Operations and Accounting for over 25 years. She is instrumental in the firm’s day-to-day operations, contributing her unique interpersonal skills to support the entire team.
